Word Tracing
Free printable word tracing worksheets — trace colors, months, weekdays, fruits, animals and family words on a four-line grid, or type your own word list. Fresh sheets every time, print on A4 or save as PDF.
From single letters to whole words
Once letters come out reliably, words are the next step — and word tracing keeps the same skeleton kids already know: model word, dashed outlines, then open line. Months and weekdays double as calendar knowledge, colors and animals tie handwriting to the words kids already say out loud, and the custom box turns any Friday spelling list into a handwriting page in seconds.
Start from the letter tracing pages if single letters are still shaky, then keep the routine going word by word — and let the random letter generator warm up little hands before pencil hits paper.
FAQ
How does a word tracing row work?
Each row shows the word three times: the solid gray word is the model to copy, the two dashed outlines are for tracing over with a pencil, and the rest of the ruled line stays open for writing the word freehand — same four-line grid, same routine as the letter tracing pages, now with whole words.
Which word groups can I print?
Six ready-made banks: colors, months, weekdays, fruits, animals and family — the classic first vocabulary sets. Ordered groups (months, weekdays) always print in calendar order; the themed groups shuffle a little every time you press "New sheet". Or switch to "Custom words" and type your own list — spelling words, names, anything.
Can I use my own spelling list?
Yes — pick "Custom words" and type your list (commas, spaces or line breaks all work). Every word becomes a tracing row, in your order, with the same ruled grid. It doubles as a name-writing generator: type a child's name and print a personal practice page.
How do I print a worksheet or get a PDF?
Press "Download PDF" above the sheet to save a ready-to-print A4 file, or press "Print" to open your browser's print dialog and print it right away. Turning off the browser's "Headers and footers" option gives you the cleanest page.
Are these worksheets free? Can I use them in my classroom?
Yes — every worksheet on ClassCaddy is free for personal and classroom use: homework, math stations, morning work, tutoring, homeschool. You can print as many copies as you need. The only thing you can't do is sell the sheets or republish them as your own.
